Chromatic Riparian Decontamination

Project details

Programme

Year 1

This project proposes a hydrological network for acid mine remediation and rewilding. The site is located at Onllwyn, Wales, to the north of River Tawe. Floods and heavy rain occur relatively frequently, and the area is devoid of wildlife due to mining.

In this context, the project proposes a biological hydrological network to reorganise the connection between water and biology at the site. An Acid Mine Drainage Remediation system is used to realign the flow direction of the site to form a continuous water network, combined with topography and water purification plants, to purify and eventually flow into the mine crater. In the long term, the probiotic agent and rewilding strategies will enable species in the surrounding environment to spread. A rewilding corridor for species will also be implemented, which help restore the soil quality of the riparian zone. Through the harmonious combination of hydrological network and creatures, rewilding is finally achieved.
