Immersing into the Microbiome explores a symbiosis between humans and deep ground dynamics. The duality between soil strata – topsoil and the biological developments that bind them – influence strategies of habitat restoration. Human and non-human entanglement lead to a balanced probiotic scene. Humans are guided down into the landscape by a landform depression, exposing them to the microbiome world. The project raises awareness of the unseen underground life creating a dual experience of spontaneous microbiome growth (underground) with a controlled induction of micro and macroaggregates (soil substrates).
Regenerative Soil Dimensions explores the ecological, social, economic, and political dimensions tied to soil restoration of the Nant Helen Mine. Permaculture and leisure blend with wildlife corridors, assisting soil care, ecological succession, and social collaboration. The mine reclamation is through fungal, bacterial, and floral networks and permaculture enhancing biodiversity while maintaining soil health. This programme creates a workable utopia, allowing new economic models supported by tourism and community support whilst promoting environmental education.
