More than a Human City: Coexistence with Wildlife in Urban Space

Project details

Programme
Design Studio Design Studio 2
Year 2

How do we approach issues of coexistence in a "more than human city"? The answer to this question will determine our view on human-wildlife coexistence and what approach should we adopt towards it.

According to Michael Conover, human interest and "environmental demands" for animal resources are constantly changing whether we live in the city or the suburbs. To ensure that "our actions do not prevent the future generation from achieving their goals and provide more possibility for the wildlife resources". This project was undertaken to explore the possibilities for designers to promote the concept of human-wildlife coexistence in urban landscape projects through effective strategies related to landscape connectivity.

This project experiments with how we could create a benignly symbiotic relationship for human coexistence with wildlife in urban spaces via habitat and road system design, intertwining wildlife with human society including cultural, economic and community aspects.
